In its ongoing mission to raise financial literacy among Filipinos, SmarTrade is strengthening its nationwide university outreach, bringing free financial education directly to students and aspiring traders.

With the support of the globally recognized trading broker ATFX, SmarTrade is equipping young Filipinos with the tools and knowledge necessary to make informed financial decisions.

SmarTrade took another significant step in this advocacy through its participation last April 30 in the “Serve the People: Government Career AES Expo 2025” at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. The event was organized in partnership with the UST Artlets Economic Society, which is committed to cultivating morally grounded economic professionals for national and global impact.

At the University of Santo Tomas career expo, students engage with a SmarTrade representative in on-the-job training opportunities.

At the career expo, SmarTrade offered UST economics and accounting students an internship program in marketing strategy and educational content development, with the opportunity to apply for full-time roles in the company and gain insights into how it operates at the intersection of finance and education.

Earlier, SmarTrade conducted a financial wellness seminar at the University of St. La Salle Bacolod. Led by SmarTrade market analyst Gab Santos and organized by the university’s accounting students, the seminar focused on the fundamentals of forex trading, technical analysis, and practical tools for young people in the wise management of their finances.

“Partnering with schools allows us to meet students where they are and introduce financial education in a way that’s engaging, relevant, and future-focused,” said Santos. “It’s about giving them the knowledge and confidence to take control of their financial futures, whether they pursue trading or not.”

The seminar in St. La Salle Bacolod and the participation in the UST career expo are part of a broader movement spearheaded by SmarTrade to work closely with academic institutions in delivering free and accessible financial education nationwide. From campuses in Metro Manila to the provinces, the company is forging long-term partnerships that support universities’ efforts to equip students with real-world skills beyond the classroom.

With the success of previous campus events, including a well-attended financial wellness session at Cavite State University in 2024, SmarTrade continues to build momentum.

“We believe that the earlier financial education starts, the greater the impact,” said SmarTrade president and CEO Joyce Mayo. “Our goal is to nurture a financially empowered generation — one that understands money management, investment fundamentals, and the importance of economic awareness. Our partnership with schools is a vital part of that mission.”

SmarTrade aims to demystify online trading and financial planning for young Filipinos through these university initiatives. It provides, apart from seminars, access to free learning sessions, mentorship programs, and real-world applications that help students build a strong foundation in financial literacy.
