La Boheme, the beloved, timeless though tragic opera by Giacomo Puccini, will be performed on Nov. 26 at 5:30 p.m. at the University of Baguio (UB) Gymnasium on Assumption Road, Baguio City. The performance is free and open to the public.

An outreach project of the Cultural Center of the Philippines in collaboration with the University of Cordilleras, UB, Viva Voce Lab and Guacamole Productions, La Boheme stars soprano Anna Migallos in the role of the modiste Mimi and tenor Ervin Lumauag as Rodolfo the poet. Direction is by Alexander Cortez, and lighting design by Andrei Fabricante.

The performance is part of the CCP’s Progetto Puccini, an opera education outreach program that also aims to serve as a platform to identify new talents who may in the future represent Baguio in the national and international opera community. Earlier, Viva Voce Lab’s vocal coaches Camille Lopez Molina, who is La Boheme’s musical director, and Pablo Molina conducted a free masterclass in voice for Baguio residents, mainly students.

La Boheme in Baguio is also made possible by the Office of Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Victory Liner, Iggy’s Inn, Mario’s Baguio and Canto.—CONTRIBUTED
