The ₱50-million redevelopment of Caloocan City’s People’s Park funded by Melco Resorts (Philippines) Foundation Corp., or MRP Foundation, was formally inaugurated by Caloocan Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan and MRP Foundation chair and president Clarence Chung in a ceremonial turnover in February, coinciding with the city’s 64th month-long anniversary celebration.
MRP Foundation, the charitable arm of the luxury integrated resort City of Dreams Manila, fully funded the park’s comprehensive redevelopment, which includes landscaping and installation of a children’s playground, physical fitness equipment, jogging lane, picnic area, pickleball court, seating areas, walkways, and security features.
The park, which is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., also features food kiosks in support of economic opportunities for the city’s business owners.

“We believe that communal spaces help build strong and thriving communities where citizens can gather to connect, and where children can play. We are thankful for the opportunity to contribute ₱50 million to Caloocan City’s commitment to uplift its public spaces, because providing parks for the community exemplifies one of the highest traditions of public service,” Chung said during the inaugural ceremony. He also credited the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) and other partners for the project’s success.
“We are optimistic that the Caloocan City People’s Park will be a vibrant hub for community gatherings, recreation, and cultural and sports events,” he added.
The undertaking aligns with Caloocan’s “greener city goal and smart city initiative,” which aims to provide green spaces for its residents. The donation to the city government is one of MRP Foundation’s various undertakings focused on environment, education, culture, and health programs in conjunction with Pagcor’s mandate. CONTRIBUTED
